Healthy, Delicious, and Refreshing: Turmeric Lemonade Recipe

You can always count on lemonade as a standby thirst-quencher, but do you view it as a health tonic, too? With the addition of turmeric — and through swapping out white sugar for natural sweeteners — you can!

Turmeric is a powerhouse spice that boasts a myriad of health benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation in the body may be the culprit behind a sluggish immune system, joint pain, and a host of other ailments, so incorporating turmeric into your diet can make a huge impact. But you don’t have to just sprinkle this spice on all your favorite dishes… you can mix up this delicious Turmeric Lemonade instead.

Made with fresh lemons, pure maple syrup or honey, and, of course, turmeric, this drink is both thirst-busting and healing. You can even add a touch of cayenne pepper to rev up your metabolism. It’s a prime example of how healthy can also be delicious!

Turmeric Lemonade Recipe

Makes 2 servings

 INGREDIENTS:

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Dash of black pepper (needed for turmeric absorption)
  • 2 drops lemon food-grade essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup or raw honey
  • 3 cups filtered water
  • Natural stevia to sweeten more, if desired
  • Handful of ice

DIRECTIONS:

Add all ingredients to a large mason jar and shake, until well combined. Enjoy!
